Weird, having grown up and actually skated in the early era of street skating in NYC (87-92) and being a part of the scene back then, I never world have imagine it being a article of history or NYC lore, we were just out to have fun and express ourselves. I am not a fan of the whole "skaburban" scene (actually, it makes me sick!), but thats the nature of shit, there will always be outside influences trying to tap into something thats pure and real, and trying to package and put us in boxes for mass consumption. For me (and a few on this video, that I know personally) it was just our escape, it broke down lines, races, financial status, etc... Didn't matter where you were from, what you wore, the kicks on your feet, as long as you were having fun, that was all that mattered. I want to see how many follow it after it's no longer in vogue... Either way, its good to see shit from back then and know what those times meant to me and the others that "pushed wood."
